What Happened
A student from Quebec says Betcoin.ag suspended their account mid-withdrawal when they said a mailed bank statement would take time. The casino wanted an original or bank-stamped address document, then proof of how the crypto was obtained; the jobless player offered a transcript and exchange statements, which were refused. Betcoin offered a one-time refund of the 9.22 mBTC deposit, paid it, and treated that as the player accepting its terms were not met. The player says they never agreed to give up the roughly C$2,600 balance.
How It Developed
- 2026-05-06Complaint opened. The player said everything but the bank statement was approved, and that the casino had gone silent.
- 2026-05-07Betcoin replied in the thread: it needs original documents, had told the player to get the statement stamped, and had answered every email. The player said no emails were arriving, sent two stamped statements, and the exchange turned heated, with the casino saying the player was no longer welcome.
- 2026-05-12Betcoin rejected the transcript and exchange statements and offered a deposit refund in return for the player accepting they could not meet the terms. The player said they saw no option but to take the refund, and the casino said it would be sent within 48 hours.
- 2026-05-14The casino said the 9.22 mBTC had been returned on-chain and asked for the case to be closed; after a mix-up the player agreed the deposit was about C$1,000, not C$2,000, but kept asking what alternative document would do.
- 2026-05-20The mediator asked the player what balance remained after the refund. Earlier it had noted that crypto source-of-funds checks are common and asked whether verification could still be completed; Betcoin said the player had 45 days to send acceptable documents.
- 2026-05-26The mediator closed the case: the AML requests were standard, the source of funds was never satisfied, and the deposit refund was a lawful resolution.
Rejected
The mediator found Betcoin's AML requests standard; the deposit was refunded and the remaining balance was not paid.
What Has (and Hasn't) Helped
The deposit came back, but the winnings did not. Two lessons: a casino can insist on a stamped or mailed address document, and if you have no payslips you need another story for where the crypto came from, backed by records such as old tax returns, savings or trading history, sent before you accept any refund deal. Accepting the refund here was read as closing the matter.
