What Happened
A player says Stake closed their account for good after a verification attempt. Before that, they had deposited USDT and placed one sports bet that settled normally. The player did not want the account back, only the balance, which they put at about €2,025 of their own money. Stake said the player broke its rule that KYC details must be accurate.
How It Developed
- Complaint opened. The player asked for help getting their deposit back.
- The player said Stake confirmed the closure but never named the rule broken or showed proof of wrongdoing.
- Stake said the player gave inaccurate KYC information. It cited two clauses and its legal duties, and said it had given AskGamblers everything relevant.
- The player replied that the money was their own deposit, not winnings, and asked for at least that back, plus a written list of the KYC problems.
- AskGamblers decided Stake had followed its terms and closed the case. It said the player could still go to the regulator or an outside dispute service.
Rejected
Marked resolved, but AskGamblers found Stake acted within its terms. The player's roughly €2,025 was not returned.
What Has (and Hasn't) Helped
Nothing worked. Stake gave its evidence to the mediator privately, and the thread never says what was wrong with the player's details. Make sure everything you enter at sign-up matches your ID exactly, because Stake treats a mismatch as a breach that can cost you even your own deposit.
